With Lego bricks you can rebuild anything, even history.

BRAZILIAAN NATIONAL MUSEUM

The Brazilian National Museum had burnt accidentally in 2018. It was the most important Natural Science Museum in Latin America.

This was an irreplaceable loss for Brazilians and also humanity. Besides their 20 million pieces collection, the building itself was part of the Brazilian heritage. It was a 200-year-old iconic building that once was used as an official palace for Portuguese and Brazilian Royal Family (at the time Brazil was a Portuguese colony, in the XVI century), before becoming a museum.

The classic style of the building is remarkable and should not be forgotten by future generations. But the Brazilian government was not starting the reconstruction, so we decided to rebuild it in another way. We reunited the usual museum visitors, children, to rebuild it in Lego bricks.

Our project was submitted to Lego Ideas, a platform where the public can create and vote for a Lego Set idea to become a real product. The idea spread on social and regular media, so we achieved the votes in less than 15 days (which usually takes more than 2 years).

All royalties from the sales will be reverted to the Museum's reconstruction fund. But better than this: we brought the Brazilian National Museum back to conversations and government attention. Brazilian government approved new conditions and release part of the value for the reconstruction of the museum. A first step to rescue and rebuild our history.
